A growing chorus of voices is calling for a peaceful resolution to the political crisis in Rivers State, Nigeria. The controversy surrounding the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, has sparked a debate that is dividing the state's lawmakers.

"We have called this press conference to appeal to our colleagues to find a middle ground and explore options beyond impeachment," said Sylvanus Nwankwo, the Minority Leader of the House. He emphasized the need to exercise mercy and find a peaceful solution, highlighting the interventions of elders and leaders within the state.
